Dover Hill Elementary – When Joplin School District set out to build Dover Hill Elementary, they needed more than a new building—they needed a partner to help them invest in their students’ future. Crossland delivered a 72,000 SF facility designed for flexibility, long-term value, and modern learning environments. From early collaboration with CGA Architects and DLR Group to overcoming site challenges on a limestone hillside, our team provided creative solutions every step of the way. Even difficult excavation turned into opportunity—with rock safely removed and reused, and a $250,000 donation back to the district from a partnering contractor.
We don’t just build—we engage. Through a partnership with Pitsco, we created hands-on learning experiences for students, connecting them to the process and making construction personal. Inside, colorful grade-level pods, movable walls, and durable finishes like polished concrete and custom millwork create an adaptable space built to grow with the district. Dover Hill stands as a testament to what’s possible when schools are built with care, community, and a trusted partner at the table.
Transforming Education Through Innovative Design and Community Engagement
McAlester Middle School
In McAlester, Oklahoma, a bold investment in education came to life with the new 100,000 SF McAlester Middle School. Built to accommodate growing enrollment and evolving learning needs, the $25.2M campus features more than 30 classrooms, a full-service kitchen, and a FEMA-rated storm shelter that doubles as a central arena—providing both educational and emergency support to the community. Constructed on a steep hillside with a 39-foot elevation change, this project required creative problem-solving, extensive excavation, and strong collaboration with the design team to stay on schedule and deliver lasting value.
At Crossland, we go beyond the build. We partnered with McAlester Public Schools to support student internships in architecture, construction, and engineering—giving students real-world exposure to the industry. From groundbreaking to a district-wide celebration before opening day, we stayed hands-on, communicative, and community-driven. Transforming Melissa High School into a Next-Generation Campus
Melissa High School Phases – Melissa ISD is building for the future—and we’re proud to be their partner in transforming Melissa High School into a next-generation campus. Built across multiple phases, this expansion includes a 63,000 SF addition with a gymnasium, upgraded café, Performing Arts Center, and storm shelter—each designed to elevate student experience and safety. The PAC is a standout space, blending high-end finishes with top-tier performance capabilities, while the gym and café offer modern amenities and natural light that encourage connection and school pride.
To prepare students for the real world, we delivered a 250,000 SF CTE and academic wing packed with specialized labs, hands-on training spaces, and future-focused classrooms. From law enforcement and health science to engineering and media, this facility is built to support every pathway. Our most recent addition—a $34.5M, 67,000 SF basketball arena—reflects the same commitment to student growth through athletic excellence.
