At just four years old, Cam got to pick any theme for his birthday, he didn’t choose superheroes or cartoons — he chose Crossland.

Why? Because his dad works here. (cue the oohs and ahhs)
Cam is heading into Pre-K this year, but his mind is already on big trucks and construction sites. He spends his days mowing with Dad, watching tool reviews and construction videos on YouTube, and lining up his toy trucks and trailers just like a real jobsite. Ask him what he wants to be when he grows up, and he’ll tell you straight: “I want to drive a skid steer at Crossland.”
His dad, Caleb, has been with Crossland for over two years as a senior field engineer. Before that, he spent seven years working for a small construction company. An opportunity at Crossland motivated him to finish his mechanical engineering degree and take the next step in his career.
Today, Caleb is helping build the Cherokee Nation Salina Health Clinic. He manages subcontractors, works closely with other Crossland team members to deliver top-quality projects, and actively learns from senior leadership to keep growing his skills and professional knowledge.

At first, Caleb wondered if moving to such a large company would be a tough adjustment after working for a smaller business. But he quickly realized Crossland still feels like family.
“Despite being one of the largest construction companies in the nation, there’s a strong sense of community and genuine care for its employees,” he says. “It’s inspiring to see that even with significant growth, Crossland has stayed true to its core values and culture.”
That sense of pride is something Caleb hopes Cam will see too — even if he doesn’t follow the same path. “Although Cam is so passionate about anything construction right now, my only hope for him is that he is happy and fulfilled in whatever path he chooses,” Caleb says.
Cam’s excitement was so contagious that Crossland decided to give Cam a little extra surprise, a dump truck full of goodies.
And while Cam might choose another path one day, for now, he’s all in on Crossland — birthday party and all.
