At Crossland, we’re known for self-performing trades, solving problems, and keeping projects on track. But what really makes that possible is the way we develop our people. Behind every great job is a superintendent who leads with confidence, a crew that knows their craft, and a project team that’s been trained to think critically and work together.
That’s why we’ve built a learning culture that runs deep, from our apprenticeship program to leadership development tracks. These programs are more than training, they’re how we keep our promises to clients and build careers that last.
Here’s an inside look at some of the efforts shaping the future of Crossland.
The Emerging Leadership Program: Guiding New Grads and Early-Career Team Members Toward Project Leadership

We launched the Emerging Leadership Program (ELP) to help early-career professionals grow into the next generation of project managers and superintendents. Now in its seventh year, the program recently graduated its 7th class—45 individuals we call “The Initiators.”
This year, we introduced a new Capstone Project, giving participants the chance to apply what they’ve learned to real-world scenarios. The result? Stronger decision-making, better collaboration, and leaders ready to take the next step.
“I really enjoyed the relationships built through this program. It gave us the tools to further our careers.”
– Jordan Gomez, Field Engineer
“The capstone event gave us real experience with interviewing for a project. It was eye-opening.”
– Wesley Thrasher, Project Engineer
Superintendent Academy: From Managing to Leading
Launched in 2024, the Superintendent Academy was built for our boots-on-the-ground leaders—those who keep the job moving, solve daily challenges, and set the tone for every site.
More than 150 superintendents across all Crossland regions are participating. The program focuses on leadership, technical expertise, and big-picture thinking. It’s about helping superintendents shift from managing tasks to leading with purpose—so jobs run smoother, teams stay aligned, and challenges get handled before they become problems.
Apprenticeship Program: Skilled Trades, Built In-House

With 125 apprentices currently enrolled and 55 graduating this year, our Apprenticeship Program is bigger and better than ever.
We’ve recently revamped the program to include in-person, instructor-led courses that allow participants to complete training in half the time. That means more skilled tradespeople entering the workforce faster—and better prepared to deliver high-quality work on day one.
Why It All Matters
These programs aren’t about checking a box. They’re about setting people up for success, giving our clients better results, and building a company that lasts. Whether you’re working with us or thinking about joining our team, know this: we’re serious about doing things the right way, and that starts with investing in people who care.
