Family Safety Center
Building a Lifeline for Families
Tulsa, OK
When the City of Tulsa needed a dedicated space to streamline protective order services, they turned to Crossland to build what would become the sole location for these critical public safety functions. The Family Safety Center represents more than just another municipal building; it’s a lifeline for families seeking protection and legal assistance in their most vulnerable moments.
This two-story, 67,492 SF facility brings together multiple entities under one roof, including law enforcement, legal aid services, family safety administration, and a dedicated courtroom. The project consolidates services that were previously scattered across different locations, creating a more efficient and supportive environment for families navigating the protective order process.
Our team self-performed both concrete and structural steel work, giving us direct control over the foundation and framework that would support this vital community resource. The design-bid-build delivery method allowed us to work closely with Ethos Architects to bring their vision to life while maintaining cost certainty for the city.
The building’s exterior combines striking curtain wall systems with traditional brick and modern metal panels, creating a professional yet welcoming appearance. A 30-foot monument sign marks the entrance, ensuring the facility is easily identifiable for those seeking assistance. Inside, the most distinctive feature is the baffle ceiling system, which provides both acoustic control and visual interest throughout the public spaces.
The tight schedule and substantial size presented our biggest challenges, requiring us to start trade work early and prioritize material ordering to keep the project moving. Despite these pressures, we delivered the facility on time and ready to serve Tulsa’s families.
