Princeton Fire Station #2 Serves Growing Texas Community
Princeton, TX
The City of Princeton’s rapid expansion north of Highway 380 created an urgent need for enhanced emergency services in this thriving Texas community. Crossland was proud to deliver Princeton Fire Station #2, a state-of-the-art facility that combines innovative construction techniques with practical design to serve the area’s growing residential developments.
Located at the strategic northwest corner of Monte Carlo Boulevard and Beauchamp Boulevard, this 12,290 SF fire station represents a significant investment in public safety infrastructure. The $6 million project showcased the effectiveness of the design-build delivery method, allowing for streamlined decision-making and accelerated construction schedules that benefited both the city and its residents.
What sets this fire station apart is its innovative use of tilt wall construction – an uncommon approach for emergency service facilities that delivered exceptional value engineering benefits. This architectural choice not only reduced construction time but also provided the durability and functionality essential for a busy fire station. The tilt wall system allowed our teams to maintain an aggressive timeline while ensuring the structural integrity required for housing emergency vehicles and equipment.
The project’s success stemmed from exceptional collaboration between our self-performed concrete crew and the overall construction team. During challenging weather conditions, including a particularly difficult rainy season, our concrete specialists demonstrated unwavering commitment with extended hours and flexible scheduling to keep the project on track. Their expertise proved crucial during foundation challenges that required supplementary engineering efforts to meet bearing requirements.
From groundbreaking to the celebratory push-in ceremony, the 17-month construction timeline showcased efficient project management and strategic planning. The design-build approach enabled early resolution of design elements and value engineering opportunities, preventing the delays that often plague complex municipal projects.
The completed fire station now serves as a vital community asset, providing enhanced emergency response capabilities for Princeton’s expanding population. The push-in ceremony marked not just the completion of a construction project, but the beginning of improved public safety services for families and businesses throughout the area.
