New Life Community Church
Gardener opens new, larger church
Gardner, KS
New Life Community Church in Gardner, Kansas, has opened a brand-new, 51,000 SF facility designed to accommodate its growing congregation. With a budget of $10 million, the church sought a contractor capable of delivering their dream space within financial constraints. After the initial contractor couldn’t meet the budget, the church turned to Crossland for a redesign that kept costs on track while delivering a facility that exceeded expectations.
The new building features an expanded worship auditorium, a gymnasium, multiple classrooms, and other community-focused spaces, making it an ideal venue for the church’s diverse activities and services. The exterior design includes vertical and horizontal metal wall panels, accent stucco, and a stone wainscot. Two 32-foot crosses grace the southwest corner of the building, adding a bold spiritual statement to the church’s presence in the community.
Inside, finishes include sealed concrete flooring, carpet tiles, bathroom tiles, and painted gypsum walls, creating a modern yet welcoming atmosphere.
Crossland’s team faced challenges during the construction process, including delays from the electrical contractor. To stay on schedule, we stepped in and brought on two additional electrical companies at our own expense. While the project ultimately finished three weeks behind schedule, this intervention prevented even longer delays, despite weather-related setbacks.
Though the timeline was not ideal, the church leadership understood the dedication and hard work our team put in, and they were ultimately very satisfied with the outcome.
