Public Works Upgrades: Modern, Efficient Spaces for City Services
Moore, OK
The City of Moore, Oklahoma, recently enhanced its Public Works Department with the addition of two new, purpose-built facilities. Crossland Construction managed the $4.3 million project, working closely with the city and a team of specialized subcontractors to deliver a modern, efficient environment for city operations.
The primary structure, spanning 33,700 SF, is designed to support large vehicle and fleet maintenance. It features multiple service bays with overhead doors, a lift crane, and a dedicated oil pump system to streamline maintenance tasks. The building also includes a mezzanine, offices, an oil storage room, restrooms, locker rooms, and a break room, providing a comprehensive workspace for staff.
A secondary building offers open bays for truck parking, including compressed natural gas (CNG) filling ports, supporting the City’s commitment to sustainable fleet operations.
Both buildings are finished with durable metal wall panels. One features a standing seam metal roof, while the other uses standard metal roof panels. Inside, the service bays are lined with metal wall panels for durability, while office areas are finished with traditional drywall and paint. A concrete sealer finish is used throughout for easy maintenance.
During construction, the team encountered and resolved several challenges, including the discovery of debris from a previous structure during earthwork. Crossland worked proactively with the City to remove the debris and install additional fill, ensuring a stable foundation. When the initial project bid exceeded the budget, Crossland collaborated with the City of Moore to identify cost-saving solutions and deliver the project within financial targets.
The result is a set of modern, functional facilities that enhance the City of Moore’s ability to maintain its fleet and public works operations, supporting efficient service delivery for the community.
