Midtown Carnegie Branch Library Remodel
Modern Function, Historic Roots: Mid-Town Carnegie Library Renovation in Springfield, MO
Springfield, MO
Crossland partnered with the City of Springfield to renovate and modernize the Mid-Town Carnegie Library—an iconic community space in need of crucial upgrades. While honoring the building’s architectural character, this project introduced modern systems and ADA-compliant design to better serve all patrons. The scope included a full HVAC system replacement, elevator improvements, structural repairs, and the addition of a sleek new ADA-accessible ramp.
Additional work included interior painting, drop ceilings in the basement, and functional upgrades to the library’s adjacent book storage building. Though the project faced timeline challenges due to subcontractor coordination and unforeseen roof deterioration, the Crossland team delivered a dramatically improved facility designed to serve the public for years to come.
Craftsmanship That Honors the Past
The hotel’s striking exterior features a mix of brick and EIFS finishes, while the sixth-floor rooftop bar adds both visual appeal and guest experience. Inside, custom ceiling elements and detailed millwork showcase the craftsmanship on this project. The structure also included extensive precast work supported by Crossland Prefab and Prestressed Construction divisions.
A Renovation with Resolve
While uncovering issues like rotted roof rafters presented unexpected hurdles, Crossland remained focused on delivering a high-quality renovation. By navigating the complexities of an aging structure and going the extra mile to support the client, the team demonstrated a strong mix of problem-solving, flexibility, and pride in craftsmanship—bringing new life to a valued community space.
