Ignite Program Expands with Facility Renovation and Addition
Bentonville, AR
The Bentonville Schools Ignite Professional Studies Program recently completed a major upgrade, providing students with modern, functional spaces tailored for hands-on learning in career and technical education.
This $2 million, 9,600 SF project included both a renovation and addition to the existing Ignite career trades facility. The goal: to transform an aging building into a dynamic environment where 11th and 12th grade students gain real-world experience, earn industry-recognized credentials, and participate in advanced classroom instruction.
Exterior improvements featured a full façade upgrade using concealed fastener metal panels. This not only modernized the appearance but also unified the new addition with the original structure. When the school district indicated the availability of additional funding for value-added improvements, our team proposed re-covering the existing façade – creating a more cohesive, seamless design.
Interior updates were just as extensive. Flooring throughout includes a mix of luxury vinyl tile (LVT), vinyl composition tile (VCT), epoxy flooring in wet areas, and sealed concrete in high-use workspaces. Fresh paint was applied throughout the building, including on the plywood liner walls in the construction trades lab, giving the space a clean and professional look.
Early in the construction process, quality issues arose with the pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) subcontractor. Our team acted decisively – halting work until the issues were fully corrected. We maintained strict quality standards from start to finish, ensuring the result met both district and student expectations.
The updated Ignite facility now supports a more engaging, career-ready learning experience for students, equipping them with the tools and environment they need to thrive.
