Frisco ISD CTE Expansion
Building the Future of Hands-On Learning
Frisco, TX
Expanding educational infrastructure requires thoughtful planning – especially when serving a fast-growing district like Frisco ISD. The Frisco ISD Career and Technical Education (CTE) Expansion project exemplified this balance, transforming an existing campus into a 59,000 SF facility that enhances hands-on learning opportunities while prioritizing safety and flexibility for future programs.
This $22.1 million expansion brought significant upgrades, including modernized lab spaces, expanded health science and engineering classrooms, and industry-aligned training areas that reflect real-world work environments. New collaborative learning zones, updated technology, and specialized workshop spaces ensure students gain valuable, career-ready experience across a range of disciplines – from architecture and design to robotics and health sciences.
At the heart of the expansion is a large-scale storm shelter, a testament to the district’s unwavering commitment to student safety in a region prone to severe weather. Seamlessly integrated into the learning environment, the shelter doubles as functional classroom space, blending protection with purpose.
The 21-month construction timeline required precise coordination among numerous trades and subcontractors. Rather than self-performing any trade work, Crossland led the project through detailed management, coordination, and quality oversight – ensuring each phase met the district’s exacting standards.
A phased construction approach allowed Frisco ISD to maintain ongoing CTE programming throughout the expansion, minimizing disruptions while adding capacity for thousands of students. The project’s success demonstrates how careful planning, collaboration, and innovation can create a facility that not only protects students but prepares them for the future.
