Station 10 Sets New Standards in Emergency Response Infrastructure

Frisco, TX

This six-bay facility represents far more than a typical municipal building. Designed to sleep 10 firefighters including two captains, Fire Station 10 seamlessly blends commercial construction with residential comfort – a critical balance since firefighters essentially live at the station during their shifts. The result is one of the finest fire stations in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

The architectural design reflects Frisco’s commitment to community integration. PGAL incorporated exterior materials and color schemes that complement the nearby PGA fields facility, creating visual harmony within the neighborhood. The building features primarily masonry brick veneer and large-format masonry stones, accented with metal panels and extensive storefront glazing that floods the interior with natural light.

Inside, functionality drives every design decision. The layout prioritizes rapid response times – every room connects to efficient pathways leading to the apparatus bay, because as first responders know, every second counts. The apparatus bay itself showcases a distinctive bright red flooring system, a modern tribute to the historical tradition of red-painted firehouse floors that honors the department’s heritage.

Beyond emergency response capabilities, Station 10 serves as a community hub. The facility includes a large training and meeting room available for local groups and voting activities, plus a unique two-tier day room equipped with individual recliners for all personnel. A state-of-the-art fitness facility ensures firefighters can maintain peak physical condition.

The project faced significant challenges early on when geotechnical conditions differed from initial reports after the building pad location changed. Quick coordination between Crossland, the City of Frisco, design engineers, and geotechnical consultants resolved soil issues without impacting the schedule or budget – demonstrating the collaborative approach that defines successful municipal projects.

Sustainability remained a priority throughout construction, with energy-efficient LED lighting and high-efficiency HVAC systems reducing long-term operational costs for taxpayers. The project maintained its 14-month timeline and stayed within budget, delivering exceptional value for the community investment.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony featured a traditional “push-in” ceremony, where the fire truck was symbolically pushed into the bay. The community turnout and visible pride of the firefighters in their new facility validated the careful attention to both function and form that went into this project.
