Aldi #108 Retro
Converting Legacy Space into Modern Grocery
Palestine, TX
Crossland successfully transformed a former Office Depot location into a vibrant new ALDI grocery store in Palestine, Texas. This adaptive reuse project breathed new life into an existing commercial space while bringing ALDI’s signature shopping experience to the local community.
The 25,889 SF renovation maintained the building’s structural footprint while completely reimagining the interior to accommodate ALDI’s efficient store layout and distinctive shopping experience. Our team managed the five-month construction timeline with precision, completing the project on schedule and within budget despite facing utility infrastructure challenges.
A significant hurdle emerged during construction when our team discovered that the power requirements had not been properly evaluated prior to breaking ground. Crossland worked diligently with the local power company to navigate this unexpected issue, ensuring the correct transformer was installed to meet the store’s operational needs without delaying the project timeline.
The completed store features ALDI’s standard exterior and interior finishes, creating a cohesive brand experience consistent with their nationwide locations. The most rewarding aspect of this project came during the grand opening celebration, where team members witnessed firsthand the community’s enthusiasm for their new grocery option. This $2.35 million renovation not only delivered a successful retail space but also created a meaningful addition to Palestine’s commercial landscape.
