8th Street Corridor Improvements
Bentonville, AR
The 8th Street Corridor Improvements project transformed a two-lane road into a five-lane thoroughfare spanning 1.4 miles, from SW I Street to SE J Street in Bentonville, AR. This major infrastructure upgrade included installing new storm drain systems, sidewalks, trails, traffic lighting, stamped concrete truck aprons, and curb & gutter. The project significantly enhanced multi-modal commuting, providing safe and efficient access for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. The City of Bentonville prioritized the integration of dedicated bicycle trails, complete with traffic signals, to accommodate the area’s strong cycling culture. Additionally, the improvements were essential to Walmart’s Home Office, as many employees commute along 8th Street daily. The final contract value was $28,193,022, and the project achieved an on-time completion in 25.5 months. Crossland Heavy Contractors (CHC) self-performed 51% of the work, including dirtwork/excavations, storm drain, utilities, cast-in-place concrete, and demolition. The successful completion of this project has had a lasting impact on the city’s residents, businesses, and commuters.
