Wyandotte Nation Family Services
A Place Where Families Begin Again
Wyandotte, OK
The Wyandotte Nation needed a specialized facility to serve families facing some of life’s most difficult challenges. Crossland partnered to build a 7,218 SF Family Services center that provides critical support for domestic abuse victims and creates safe spaces where parents can maintain connections with children in foster care.
This project represents more than just construction – it’s a lifeline for families working to heal and rebuild. The building houses dedicated counseling offices where trained professionals can provide trauma-informed care, alongside carefully designed visitation rooms that offer a comfortable, non-threatening environment for supervised family interactions.
Our team delivered this essential community resource over nine months using a design-bid-build approach. The wood-framed structure features a modern exterior combining metal panel and EIFS systems, creating a welcoming appearance that doesn’t feel institutional. One standout feature is the laser-engraved fencing surrounding the patio area, which adds both privacy and visual interest to the outdoor space.
Inside, we focused on creating calming environments through thoughtful material selections. Ceiling baffles help manage acoustics – crucial in a building where private conversations are the norm. Luxury vinyl tile and carpeting provide durability while maintaining a residential feel that helps visitors feel more at ease.
What made this project particularly meaningful was the involvement of Wyandotte Nation team members who would eventually work in the building. Four to five staff members participated in regular meetings throughout construction, and their enthusiasm for the space was evident at every phase. Their input helped ensure the finished building would truly serve the community’s needs.
We completed the project under budget, demonstrating our commitment to cost-effective construction without compromising quality. The building now stands ready to serve families during their most vulnerable moments, providing both immediate crisis support and long-term healing resources.
