Building Tulsa’s Future: The Nathan Hale Multi-Sport Facility Brings Athletics and Safety Under One Roof
Tulsa, OK
At Nathan Hale High School in Tulsa, a new chapter in student athletics and community pride is taking shape. The 54,000-square-foot Multi-Sport Facility isn’t just a gym, it’s a place built for growth, resilience, and connection. Designed as a hub for competition and safety, this two-story complex features an indoor soccer field, running track, and basketball practice gym, all anchored by a FEMA-rated storm-shelter structure that doubles as locker rooms and team spaces.
Every square foot was planned for performance. The facility’s striking reverse-tapered steel columns and metal-and-brick façade showcase both strength and style, while custom vinyl window graphics and hand-painted murals bring school spirit to life. Inside, students can move seamlessly from classroom to court, with amenities that support year-round practice and training, no matter the weather.
Behind the scenes, this project challenged our construction and engineering teams to blend multiple structural systems under one roof. The building ties into the existing high school and integrates a complex mix of steel, concrete, and prefabricated metal building components. Our self-perform crews fabricated massive steel shrouds on site to meet FEMA storm-shelter requirements; precision work that required coordination across disciplines and daily communication with design partners.
The result is a facility that meets rigorous safety standards, supports multiple sports, and reflects the district’s commitment to its students. The Nathan Hale Multi-Sport Facility stands as proof that when design, craftsmanship, and community vision align, you build more than a building you build a facility the school district and community are proud of.
