Crossland helps school district recover from winter storm
Melissa, TX
At Crossland, we’re community builders. It’s what we do.
We say it, we live it. We believe in the power of communities, and we believe in helping when help is needed.
So when we heard that the winter storm of February 2021 led to burst pipes and extensive damage to multiple buildings in the Melissa (Texas) Independent School District, we reached out to see how Crossland could help.
Those conversations led to $3.4M worth of renovations throughout the Melissa ISD. There was extensive renovation work at the Melissa Ridge Early Childhood Center (MRECC) and the district’s sports fieldhouse, which combined to boast more than 30,000 SF.
We also worked with the district to renovate bathrooms in one of their gyms and fixed minor issues at their home office and facilities maintenance building.
The team did a full gut at the MRECC. We installed tile wainscot in the hallways with new wood floors, wood doors, millwork, and carpet in the classrooms and installed new fixtures and HVAC systems.
With no architect on the project and no prior knowledge of the facilities, the Crossland team worked closely with school district officials to re-design the look of the classrooms, which now feature moving walls that provide flexible classroom layouts.
The results of that collaboration are up-to-date facilities that Melissa ISD faculty, staff, parents, and students can be proud of.
We completed the project in budget and on time for the 2021-2022 school year.
