Lowe’s XDT Facility: A 63,000 SF Tilt-Up Distribution Hub in Joplin, MO
Joplin, MO
Companies are always looking for ways to improve shipping and delivery efficiency, and the Lowe’s XDT (Cross-Dock Terminal) facility in Joplin, Missouri was built to do just that. This 63,000-square-foot, $6.2 million steel building now serves as a Midwestern distribution hub, enabling Lowe’s to fulfill online orders in just one day.
Project Overview
This steel-framed distribution center was constructed using Crossland’s Tilt-Up system, which provided structural efficiency and cost savings. The interior features a vast warehouse space with exposed floors and several small offices to support facility operations.
One of the unique aspects of this project was sourcing much of the steel from Brazil, which helped shorten lead times and keep the project on schedule. Crossland leveraged a trusted industry contact to secure this high-quality material and overcome potential supply chain delays.
Self-Performed Work & Efficiency
Crossland self-performed nearly 70% of the work, totaling 8,000 man-hours. Our crews handled earthwork, concrete, steel erection, and finish carpentry, allowing us to control quality, improve efficiency, and maintain scheduling flexibility.
Delivering Ahead of Schedule & On Budget
Thanks to careful planning, teamwork, and a strong safety record, the project was completed on budget and ahead of schedule—with zero accidents reported.
A Job Well Done
The Lowe’s XDT facility is a prime example of how smart construction strategies can enhance supply chain efficiency. Crossland Construction is proud to have delivered a high-quality, cost-effective distribution center that will help Lowe’s meet customer demands faster than ever.
