Emma Avenue Streetscape Improvements
New repavement project nods to the past
Springdale, AR
Crossland Heavy Contractors was awarded the $1.3 million contract for the Emma Street project. This three and a half block stretch of road is nestled in the heart of historic downtown Springdale, Arkansas. Our crews demolished the existing street, sidewalks, and drainage systems. New grades and dimensions were established to meet ADA specifications, and a new drainage system was installed to correct flooding that local business owners experienced during heavy rains.
The sidewalks featured extensive stamped and stained concrete work, as did the crosswalks and intersections; over 38,000 square feet of stamped and stained concrete was poured. Five unique stamped patterns and four color combinations were used to create a rustic, antiqued aesthetic. CHC also installed new streetscape lighting and landscaping. Preserving the historic buildings in the district was critical. However, every business owner supported our teams over the course of the project, thanks to our excellent field staff and management.
