Choctaw Hugo Tribal Services Expansion
Choctaw Nation expands services center
Hugo, OK
The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma has significantly expanded its Tribal Services Center in Hugo, investing $23 million to add 55,000 SF of new and renovated space. This expansion strengthens the center’s ability to serve the Choctaw community by providing a broader range of resources and support services.
The project included the demolition and renovation of existing office areas, as well as the construction of new administrative offices, conference rooms, and flexible office spaces. A full commercial kitchen and the new Choctaw “Roots” Cafe were added, offering fresh dining options for both employees and the public. The facility now features a hardened room designed as a storm shelter, expanded parking, and upgraded site utilities to improve safety and accessibility.
Architectural highlights include a distinctive north entrance with unique design elements, and exterior finishes that blend EIFS, brick, metal panels, and stone for a modern yet welcoming appearance.
Construction began in February 2023 and presented several challenges, including severe winter weather and the need to relocate a large soil mound to a Choctaw Ranch property. The project’s remote location also required creative solutions for coordinating with subcontractors, especially during final punch list and closeout activities.
Throughout the process, the Crossland team worked closely with the Choctaw Nation, building a strong partnership and gaining valuable insights into tribal processes that will benefit future collaborations.
The expanded Choctaw Nation Services Center now stands as a vital hub for community engagement, administrative support, and public services, reflecting the Nation’s commitment to growth and resilience.
