LEED Gold Facility Supports Sustainable Energy Operations

Crossland Construction proudly delivered the new Atmos Energy field operations service center in Prosper, Texas. This 22,710 SF facility serves as a critical hub for Atmos Energy’s field operations, combining administrative offices with specialized shop facilities and an equipment laydown area on an expansive 8.98-acre site.

Completed in November 2023 after a 15-month construction period, this $9.97 million project stands as a testament to sustainable construction practices, achieving prestigious LEED Gold certification. The facility features a sophisticated rainwater collection system and adheres to rigorous sustainability standards throughout.

The exterior showcases a blend of stone and brick façade topped with a metal roof, while the perimeter is secured with precast concrete fencing. Inside, the administrative areas feature LVT flooring, laminate millwork with solid surface countertops, creating a functional yet professional environment for Atmos Energy personnel.

Our construction team self-performed concrete work, bringing Crossland’s signature quality control to this critical component. The project presented unique challenges, particularly in meeting stringent LEED certification requirements, which demanded specialized materials and specific testing protocols. Our team embraced these challenges, gaining valuable experience in sustainable construction practices that will benefit future projects.

Working closely with our partners at Crossland Realty, who had a partial ownership stake in the project, we maintained exceptional cost consciousness throughout construction. The project was completed on time and within budget despite the additional complexity of constructing two new public roads as part of the development.
