Arcadia Lake WTP Residuals Handling and Imp
Edmond, OK
The City of Edmond Water Treatment Plant began the process for a large expansion in 2018, and they are still continuing their expansion today. Crossland Heavy Contractors took on the first phase of the expansion: the Sludge Handling Facility. The existing plant had no sludge handling equipment; they utilized drying beds to dry and store all their lime before transporting it off site. Our $39.5M project allows the City to dry the solids within hours for immediate hauling offsite, instead of weeks or months.
We constructed 8 new facilities for the plant: a Dewatering Facility, Solids Handling Pad, Thickened Sludge Pump Station, 2 Gravity Thickeners, Lime Storage Area, Sedimentation Basin, and a Detention Pond. This equipment- heavy project included Thickener Mechanisms, Progressive Cavity Pumps, Belt Filter Presses, Conveyor Systems, Geothermal Well Fields, and a Polymer Blending System. Our scope also included rehabilitation to the existing facilities including Filter Media replacement, check valve replacement, flow meter replacement, fencing and gate replacement, and providing new point- to-point communication towers across the city to reconstruct their aging network.
