SPS Field Elementary Classroom Addition
Expanding Possibilities: A Smart, Simple Addition for Springfield Public Schools
Springfield, MO
The new Field Classroom Addition for Springfield Public Schools is a prime example of how a small addition can make a big impact. The 5,000-square-foot expansion was designed with practicality, safety, and continuity in mind.
The addition houses four classrooms and four bathrooms, giving students and teachers more room to learn and connect. The design integrates seamlessly with the existing campus, matching finishes and color schemes while introducing thoughtful upgrades that enhance both function and appearance.
A mix of metal panels and brick gives the exterior a clean, modern look, anchored by a standout LED board that communicates announcements and school pride. Inside, durable materials such as painted CMU walls, colorful acoustical panels, rubber flooring, and carpet accents create a bright, comfortable environment. A concrete barrier that doubles as a bench lines the front of the building, adding both safety and style at the busy street intersection.
Despite a short schedule and a few surprises, the team delivered the project on time and within budget. Quick problem-solving, early material procurement, and an all-hands-on-deck effort ensured success.
The result is a simple, well-executed classroom addition that meets the district’s growing needs while standing out for its attention to detail and quality. It’s proof that even straightforward projects can make a lasting impression when built with care.
