Built for the People Who Keep You on the Road

Norman, OK

When Landers Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram needed to replace their deteriorating service center in Norman, Oklahoma, they turned to Crossland to build a facility that would transform their mechanics’ working conditions. The existing service center suffered from structural issues including ceiling damage that left workers exposed to the elements.

We delivered a 36,159 SF climate-controlled automotive service center that prioritized functionality and worker comfort. The $10 million project created an environment where technicians could focus on quality repairs without battling extreme weather conditions – no more sweating through Oklahoma summers or working with numb fingers during winter months.

The rectangular structure features tilt-up concrete panels, but this project presented our team with new learning opportunities. Rather than using our typical precast panels, we implemented cast-in-place tilt panels, expanding our construction methodology. The specialized nature of automotive service centers also required our crews to master the intricacies of automotive lift installation and the structural support systems these heavy-duty lifts demand.

Our self-perform approach covered concrete work, steel, and site utilities including concrete pavements. This direct control over critical trades allowed us to maintain quality standards throughout the build process, even when the project faced management transitions that could have derailed progress.

The project timeline stretched 17 months through the design-bid-build delivery method. While we encountered challenges with initial project leadership, our team’s adaptability shone through. When issues arose with improperly installed automotive lifts discovered just before handover, our crews didn’t hesitate to demolish and repour concrete sections to deliver the quality standard Landers deserved.

Today, mechanics at the Landers CDJR Service Center work in a comfortable, well-equipped environment that directly supports their productivity and job satisfaction. The heated and cooled workspace, combined with new lifts and modern equipment, positions the dealership to handle more service work and grow their revenue while providing employees with a professional work environment.
