Sams Club Clubhouse
Bentonville, AR
Project Scope:
This new building was designed to create large open spaces, workshop areas, mockup areas, and a library for the Sam’s Club design team to develop and test new concepts. The facility is intended to be a creative hub for innovation, allowing the design team to explore and refine new ideas in a versatile and functional environment.
Exterior Features:
The building’s exterior boasts impressive architectural features, including precast concrete panels, ACM panels, and a combination of storefront and curtainwall systems with colored glazing. The standing seam roof extends to the ground, creating a sleek and modern look, while Nichiha woodgrain panels add a touch of natural elegance.
Interior Finishes:
Inside, the high lobby ceiling with large cylindrical light fixtures creates a grand entrance. The cafe area features a dramatic wood ceiling with striking angles, and two skylights enhance the space’s natural light. One skylight is positioned over an artificial plant wall, giving the illusion of growing plants and adding a unique aesthetic element.
Project Challenges and Solutions:
One significant challenge was the unexpected relocation of the building’s power. Crossland swiftly addressed this issue by rerouting the power to accommodate the new location. This ensured the project stayed on track without major disruptions.
Going Above and Beyond:
During preconstruction, our well-developed budgets and collaboration with top subcontractors on design elements, including landscaping and hardscaping, saved the client $450,000 through value engineering.
Constant communication and coordination were key on this project because of its proximity to their occupied home office. The Crossland team facilitated executive visits to the jobsite and provided additional parking for Sam’s Club to accommodate any special events during construction.
Crossland leveraged its self-perform capabilities on this project, efficiently handling the steel erection followed by the erection of the precast wall panels completed by Crossland Prefab. This streamlined approach facilitated a swift build, enabling the client to become operational quickly.
