Saint Francis Cancer Center Expansion
Expanding Cancer Care In Tulsa
Tulsa, OK
As one of the leading cancer centers in the Midwest, Saint Francis Cancer Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, has seen a consistent increase in patients.
That called for a demand for more space.
Crossland built that additional space as part of a $39 million, 87,000 SF expansion project.
Project Features
The project featured the construction of additional space for the oncology services center providing radiation oncology services, infusion treatment services, lab work, physical therapy, and proton therapy. It also included Warren Clinic’s clinical services.
The expansion allows patients to now have their own, private treatment bays with TVs, temperature controls, reclining chairs, and windows for outdoor viewing.
Exterior finishes on the project include a metal panel façade, curtainwall systems, EIFS (pink) systems, an ambulance canopy/entrance, storefront systems, and an exterior sunshade louver system.
Interior finishes include rubber flooring, carpet, wall protection, decorative glass walls, Burlington stone, limestone wall panels, and wood veneer wall panels.
Partnering to Ensure Excellence
Our partnership with KKT on this project was instrumental in ensuring excellence in all aspects of the project. As design challenges arose, KKT KKT was readily available to meet onsite and work collaboratively with us to promptly address and resolve any issues. Their proactive and responsive approach allowed us to stay on track with the overall schedule, ensuring that the project was completed to the highest standards of quality and delivered on time and within budget. Working together with KKT was truly a testament to the power of collaboration in achieving exceptional results.
Unique Challenges
One challenge we faced was the redesign of the Infusion treatment areas. After the design documents were issued, we noticed that the millwork for the Infusion treatment bays was not complete. We assisted in the coordination and review process requiring eight design modifications to refine and deliver a high-quality treatment space for our clients.
We faced another challenge during the north lobby remodel, which required us to tear down the existing structure adjacent to the Infusion treatment spaces that were in active use. By carefully planning and coordinating the demolition and construction activities, we minimized disruptions and maintained a safe environment that remained comfortable for patients and staff.
Tying the new building system into the existing structure was both unique and challenging. Our structural steel crew did an outstanding job. Through their meticulous phasing and execution, we ran into minimal obstacles resulting in a seamless integration with the existing building.
A Happy Conclusion
This project was even more personal and close to our hearts, as the project manager had a family member who would receive treatment in the new facility. This served as a constant reminder of the importance and impact of our work and motivated us to go above and beyond in delivering a high-quality project that would not only meet the needs of our client but the patients and families that will use the facility after we’re gone.
