Home2 by Hilton
Hospitality Built for Long Stays
Denton, TX
When Denton Hotel Partners envisioned bringing a modern extended-stay experience to Heritage Trail, they needed a construction partner who could navigate the complexities of hospitality construction while meeting both owner and brand standards. We delivered exactly that with the Home2 by Hilton project – a testament to our team’s ability to adapt and overcome challenges in pursuit of client success.
This four-story hotel brings 122 guest rooms to the Denton market, each equipped with kitchenettes designed for short to mid-range stays. The facility features an indoor pool that operates year-round – a standout amenity that gives guests flexibility regardless of Texas weather. Beyond the pool, the hotel includes a fitness area and common breakfast spaces that extend to an outdoor patio, creating both indoor comfort and outdoor connection.
The exterior design embraces North Texas’s climate with drought-resistant landscaping featuring aggregate, river rock, and desert-inspired plantings. This zero-scape approach reduces water consumption while creating an attractive, low-maintenance environment that aligns with regional sustainability practices.
Inside, the design team at GAK Architect specified finishes that reflect current hospitality trends with vibrant, welcoming colors throughout common areas and guest rooms. While the materials follow industry standards for wood-framed hotel construction, the execution required careful coordination to meet both ownership expectations and Hilton’s rigorous brand standards.
Our project team faced unique challenges that tested our adaptability. Working with wood-frame construction in a market where we typically excel with cold-form metal structures required us to carefully vet subcontractors and adjust our typical processes. We learned valuable lessons about subcontractor selection in unfamiliar construction methods, particularly with critical trades like HVAC systems.
Community engagement played an important role from start to finish. We participated in a groundbreaking ceremony with Denton city officials and local dignitaries, then celebrated project completion with a ribbon-cutting event. These moments reinforced the project’s significance to the local hospitality landscape and demonstrated our commitment to community connection.
The Home2 by Hilton project reinforced our belief that successful construction depends on honest communication, thorough planning, and the flexibility to solve problems as they arise. While we encountered challenges with unfamiliar construction methods and new subcontractor relationships, our team’s determination to meet both owner and brand requirements ultimately delivered a facility that serves guests well and positions our client for long-term success in the extended-stay market.
