Tulsa, OK

A deteriorating block retaining wall bordering Fred Creek in two neighborhood areas had to be replaced following years of stormwater drainage problems and soil erosion. Neighborhood roads were to remain open and utilities operating while construction took place. The project required substantial knowledge of water management, an area in which Crossland Heavy has unique expertise.

Crews utilized multiple dewatering methods to meet the challenge of nonstop creek water flow, including specialized pumps and hoses. Skillful shoring methods were also deployed. Even though our crews were working in tight conditions close to homes, the neighborhoods were not negatively affected. CHC constructed dams and reshaped the creek to properly control water flow and prevent flooding while construction took place. Following the rerouting of sanitary sewer and water lines around the creek, large concrete footings were used to support stacked precast concrete blocks that served as creek bed edges, with new masonry features constructed for the creek bottom.

Ongoing partnerships with precast concrete suppliers enabled Crossland Heavy to better control costs for this extensive project. Ultimately, Crossland Heavy is proud to add Fred Creek to the numerous water management projects we have completed for the City of Tulsa.
