When the City of Hot Springs approached Crossland Heavy, they were planning to utilize a mechanical bypass pumping system to keep plant operations functioning during construction. By partnering with the engineer early in the design phase, we were able to assist in the design of a permanent gravity bypass screening structure. This saved the City of Hot Springs money early on, while also giving the City a safe option for bypassing excess flows during major rain events in the future. By installing this gravity bypass screening structure, the plant was able to operate at 100% capacity during the Construction phase even during high-flow situations. This project also included the demolition and replacement of all existing mechanical and electrical components, as well as all associated instrumentation. During the course of the project, we also constructed a new concrete headworks structure for fine screens, modified the existing basin for a new grit system, and modified the existing chlorine channel for a UV process.
