Cosmic Cowboy Studio
An artistic atmosphere that attracts local and traveling talent
Fayetteville, AR
With enthusiasm for studio recording on the rise in Northwest Arkansas, Crossland built Cosmic Cowboy – a small recording studio with an intimate setting.
Cosmic Cowboy is a privately owned two-story audio and visual recording studio in the heart of Fayetteville, AR, where the vibe of musical and artistic culture is thriving. The space is designed for both digital and analog recordings and equipped with custom acoustic panels to meet any artist’s recording quality standards.
Taking inspiration from renowned Arkansas architect E. Fay Jones, architect David McKee designed Cosmic Cowboy with an industrial look. Crossland constructed the exterior facade using around 16,000 dark red and bronze bricks to keep it insulated for sound, while dark steel painted trim and cedar cladding on the balcony completed the contemporary vibe.
The modern industrial feel was pulled through to the interior using exposed steel and a combination of polished concrete and red oak hardwood on the floors. Energy-efficient and cost-effective structural insulated panels (SIPs) were used for the roof structure, with wood I-beams framing the second story flooring. The result was a high-performance building that will cultivate the talent of both local and traveling artists, while also visually aligning with the artistic atmosphere.
