Cogdill Early Childhood Center Addition
Strafford’s Cogdill Early Childhood Center Expands with $9.5M Addition and Renovation
Strafford, MO
At Crossland, we’re proud to play a role in strengthening educational resources for young learners. Early childhood care services in Strafford, Missouri, received a major upgrade with the expansion and renovation of the Cogdill Early Childhood Center.
This $9.5 million project added over 26,000 square feet to the existing facility, creating a more dynamic and supportive environment for students and staff. The new addition includes four modern classrooms, administrative offices, a gymnasium, a mechanical room, updated bathrooms, and expanded storage areas. Site improvements also enhanced functionality, including expanded parking, a larger detention pond, and the addition of a wet wall for improved water management.
The exterior of the new addition features a blend of colored brick, ACM (Aluminum Composite Material) panels, and durable composite wall panels, offering both aesthetic appeal and resilience. Inside, the facility showcases painted masonry walls, LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) flooring for durability and easy maintenance, and select plastered walls finished to a Level 5 smoothness to accommodate vibrant vinyl decals. As a finishing touch, we also replaced the school’s floor decal logo, ensuring the refreshed design matched the updated space.
Working in an active school environment presented unique challenges, particularly managing tight schedules and navigating peak traffic times during student drop-off and pick-up hours. Through constant communication and careful planning, our team kept the project moving efficiently, ultimately finishing ahead of schedule and within budget.
The success of this project was further recognized when the school district and project architect nominated our superintendent for the Springfield AIA Superintendent of the Year Award—an honor he proudly received. This award reflects not only the superintendent’s leadership but also the strong relationships built throughout the project.
We are honored to support Strafford’s growing community and contribute to facilities that help young students learn, grow, and thrive.
