Stephenville ISD Scores Big with Modern, Cost-Saving Stadium Build

Stephenville ISD had a vision: build a state-of-the-art stadium that honored community pride while staying within budget. Crossland helped make that vision a reality through a collaborative design-build process with Parkhill. Through value engineering efforts during preconstruction, we were able to save the district more than $5 million, without sacrificing design, durability, or experience.

To kick things off, our team toured six stadiums with district stakeholders, gathering insights and preferences that directly shaped the project. The result? A 7,500-seat stadium with a bold bowl design, a grandstand on the home side, lower bowl seating, VIP-level press box, radio booths, a rooftop terrace, and a south-endzone band section. In the north endzone, a 48′ x 27′ scoreboard towers over a fully equipped locker room facility that includes training rooms, showers, coach offices, and more.

Inside, the stadium boasts terrazzo floors, architectural wood panels, Hall of Fame graphics, and high-end finishes throughout. Outside, durable single-wythe masonry serves as both structure and skin, delivering savings and clean aesthetics. DMX lighting allows for customizable color shows at the tap of a phone, and a cutting-edge sound system delivers energy across the entire site.

Site planning posed its challenges, from a tight budget to drainage issues, but strategic bid packaging and smart design simplification helped maintain schedule and cost targets. Crossland’s leadership, paired with input from the community, engineering, and design partners, resulted in a project that’s not only game-ready, but also future-ready.

This stadium is more than a sports venue, it’s a gathering space, a showcase of community investment, and a win for both Stephenville ISD and the city it calls home.
