Building a New Home for Wilson Trailer Sales
Columbia, MO
When Wilson Trailer needed a new flagship sales and service location in Columbia, Missouri, they turned to Crossland to deliver a facility that would serve their customers for years to come. Located along the I-70 corridor, this design-build project transformed a 5-acre site into a modern 20,479 SF facility that perfectly balances functionality with brand identity.
The Crossland team approached this project with a collaborative mindset from day one, hiring the architect and civil engineer to work directly with Wilson Trailer. Drawing inspiration from the client’s previous smaller locations, the team developed a comprehensive design that met all operational needs while incorporating distinctive elements that reflect the Wilson Trailer brand.
Weather challenges tested the mettle of Crossland’s steel crews as they worked through snow, rain, and high winds during Missouri’s difficult winter months. Despite these obstacles, the teams maintained schedule integrity and delivered exceptional quality that impressed both the client and local officials.
The facility features several innovative elements, including a radiation floor heating system with boiler technology that will significantly reduce long-term energy costs. Four 16-foot HVLS fans provide efficient cooling throughout the shop area. The exterior showcases stone wainscoting and an eye-catching entryway with red metal panels that match Wilson Trailer’s signature logo colors.
Inside, Crossland went above and beyond by creating a 4’ x 4’ Wilson Trailer logo embedded in the concrete floor at the office entry – at no additional cost to the client. Shop floors received densification and stain protection treatments, while office areas feature sealed concrete acrylic flooring for durability and easy maintenance.
When the client requested substantial changes to the air and electrical systems mid-project, Crossland worked closely with subcontractors to minimize change order costs while still delivering exactly what the client needed.
The $3.5 million project, stands as a testament to Crossland’s ability to deliver high-quality design-build projects on time and within budget, even when facing challenging conditions.
