WINDS Hotel Renovation Brings Modern Lodging to Park City Casino District
Park City, KS
The newly renovated WINDS Hotel in Park City, Kansas, offers convenient lodging for visitors to Crosswinds Casino, just southwest of the gaming facility and visible from Interstate 135. Owned by the Wyandotte Nation, the 70-room hotel transforms a former Motel 6 into a modern hospitality destination.
Project Scope and Challenges:
The $4.3 million project posed unique challenges due to the deteriorated condition of the existing structure, including extensive water damage. During preconstruction, the team carefully evaluated all building systems and components to determine what could be salvaged and what required full replacement.
Renovation Highlights:
• Exterior upgrades included a new shingle roof, prefinished Hardie siding, stone wainscot, new windows, louvers, and a fluid-applied moisture barrier—chosen over the originally installed Tyvek for enhanced durability.
• Interior improvements featured complete retexturing and repainting, along with new tile, carpet, LVT flooring, energy-efficient PTAC units, lighting, and updated finishes throughout.
To meet the owner’s goal of delivering a high-quality guest experience, additional investments were made in replacing all windows and flashings and fully tearing off and reinstalling the roofing system.
Community Impact:
The hotel now serves not only casino guests but also the broader Park City community. It has become a preferred location for Chamber of Commerce meetings and reflects a strong working relationship with city leadership, including Mayor Sean Fox.
