A top-notch fire academy for local communities

The Olathe Fire Department selected Crossland Construction to build a Fire Academy for the Olathe and surrounding communities. The department will perform training on the burn tower. Local fire departments will train and hold meetings that make them better equipped to respond to real-life situations.Our client chose the site for several reasons, including the site’s natural topography, which has an existing 40-foot tall visual and audio buffer in its berm and trees. Additionally, the site is an existing City property, so there were no land acquisition costs.
Our part of the project started with a site filled with rocky topsoil, and we discovered an unexpected rock shelf as we were getting the site to grade. Lucky for us, we have excellent crews in our Civil Department. They cleared the area, poured footings, and paved the entire site.
In addition to the site work, we built an adjacent training facility and new restrooms using our self-perform concrete and rough carpentry crews.
