BWD Filter-To-Waste and Solids Processing Improvements
Saving $250k and 45 days through Value Engineering
Lowell, AR
CHC was selected as the Construction Manager at Risk for Beaver Water District to capture and reclaim the filter-to-waste water in a new 550,000+ gallon recovery basin and send it back to the head of the plant. This project also included other improvements such as sandblasting and painting existing clarifier mechanisms, extending and improving the solids handling process, and constructing a new wash water concrete basin.
This was a two-phase project. Through value analysis, we were able to eliminate over $250k to bring this project into budget for the Water District. Some of our biggest value engineering ideas included redesigning the recovery basin structure, changing sub-grade prep and pipe materials, and moving the location of the recovery basin to eliminate shoring.
