When the agricultural program at OTC outgrew its space on its Springfield campus, they needed a new place to educate those seeking a career in agriculture. This new building meets this need with its lab and shop classrooms, offices, an IT room, and a 2,400 square foot greenhouse. The structure is composed of grade beams, footings, slab on grade construction, and a pre-engineered metal building. Interior finishes include sealed concrete, epoxy countertops, metal panel walls and exposed ceiling. Many challenges arose during this project, including adverse weather conditions and the discovery of a sinkhole. Crossland crews quickly filled the sinkhole according to the engineer’s specifications and combated the weather conditions through consistent coordination and communication with the owner and subcontractors. This project was finished and ready to hand over for the 2019 fall semester.
